The first time I came to Japan, prices seemed high. Much higher than prices were at home. And this was even after converting with the exchange rate. I was a bit surprised to see how much Japanese people would pay for certain products. The next time I came to Japan, prices hadn't changed much. But things were still more expensive than my home country, the United States.
When I finally moved to Japan, prices of goods seemed to be about on-par with the US, if not a little cheaper. It seemed like the cost had barely changed at all.
